| mtac 5 began in a wild frenzy of whos taking who where and how we
gettin' back. Inu was still iffy on going but once he was a definate then i was a definite too. the UGA crew would be heading there and i told them i was on the way unless for some unknown reason they planned to go north from athens allll the way through south carolina then straight west... but that would be retarded. so it did turn out i was on the way after all and they decided to grab me somewhere close to the interstate so it wouldnt be a problem finding my house. Lothar, Ichiban Crush, and Asian Kid arrived at Burger King while Bee and I played Pokemon waiting. Bee might have made it if he didn't have work since he missed Momocon the weekend just before. I never got Asian kid's name but he was reading hitchhikers galaxy the entire way. We drove in Mike's car and the trip was estimated at around 5 hours giving no weather or traffic conditions got in the way. Of couse... they did. It hit HARD right as we got into the Tenn state line. The kind of "I Can't See Sh!t" kinda rain that downpours to no end. The other UGA group had left way before our group plus they didn't pick up anyone on the way and when we got turned around by MapQuest, so did they. They were actually in the same traffic as we were so we all arrived at the exact time. Once we hit the lobby there was already a ton of people there. I'd say the lobby crowd alone would equal the total number of people at the con MTAC 2½ I was at nearly 3 years ago. The con had really really grown. I caught PikaBiscuit in her Zukin costume right as i entered and said hey and asked about her California voyage. The UGA room was split into two seperate rooms across the hallway but luckily it was right outside of the elevator and only on the 3rd floor. I left my junk in the UGA room and went milling around with Inu and Mike. The game room was pretty weak, with Halo and Halo 2 on almost every screen. There was Naruto, but it was on GC with a large crowd around it. The only Bemani was of course DDR, right in the center of the room with big sweaty kids full comboing their Catas. Yee Haw. I almost want to say the entirety of Dance Beat Arcade followers were all here now that the place was shut down for good. A shame too because that would have been a nice escape from the con. We discovered the Loli room on the second floor with nothing but 13 year old fan girls chatting about J-Rock and Yaoi. There was no staff in the room, a DreamCast in the corner (with no games) and a large screen TV. It was time for takeover! James grabbed his IIDX con and I got my PS2 but once we got there I had forgot to grab any games so takeover didn't happen. It was time to get our drink on! We lured Mike from the con by mentioning drinking and went on foot to try aqnd find the nearest liquor store. Half a mile down the road we gave up and just figured get something as the gas station. There was a restaurant on the way called "Jersey Mike's Subs" so from that point on Ichi became Jersey Mike because he hates it. I grabbed a 12 pack of Bud Lights and Mike Grabbed a 40. When it came time for IDs they wanted everyones but for some funny reason James was like "Nah man, its cool" to the cashier which seemed really funny then but yeah you had to be there. James and I went straight through the beers. Kill Bill was nearly over in the hotel room and it was just in the middle of the Crazy 88's fight so we said drink after every kill, decapitations counting as well. 4 or 5 beer each later Charles showed up and we told him he had to Shotgun his beer (or Whiskey!) which he didnt which I did so wow we were off. There was a Yaoi room filling up and tho it goes against both of our beliefs (Mike and I are both in the anti_yaoi community), we attended anyway for um... ratio reasons, yea. James came along too saying "Ohhhhh god" the entire time. The room was beyond filled, with people even standing in the back. Lionel popped in and got a pic then quickly left once the kitty girl paddling began. They had found some girlie men weather pleather who were willing to get paddled and started with some humiliation. This was an 18+ event but nothing beyond that happened. Then they were showing us some really cheezy yaoi hentai animation and asked who would like to dub the voices during the "scenes" (buttsex). Mike and I were the only males left in the room so we had to do the voices. We let the other group go first, one of the guys being a veteran parody dubber supposively as all of his comments got lots of laughs. We decided to chicken out and go elsewhere and never ever return. The buttsex jokes continued throughout the entire weekend though. We had caught the Karaoke Revolution tournament just as they were taking signups so Charles and I both got our names on the list. This contest was awesome! Two huge projection screens and full surround sound karaoke going on. You got to pick which mix but song choice was set to random. This was good and bad because Yes, it tested peoples skills to sing any song and stay in tune through the changeup but also very Bad since Karaoke Revolution has some really really poor songs in its later mixes. Some people did really good and even danced a bit during their songs while still keeping a max combo. People in the audience watching sang along thourhg most of the songs and clapped too! Definately an audience participation event. A few people really had it rough with crappy radio music or song from the 60s. My turn seemed like it was never coming and i had picked to play a different mix than what was on so I went into the game room and played some PopNMusic. When I came back they said my turn was already over, but I woulda lost anyway since the songs were really bad. Charles however had just gotten to go up and man he got the best set of random songs. "Snake Eater" from MetalGear3, "Youre Not Here" from SilentHill3 and another good one. He scored really well but we left shortly after. The room situation was pretty bad. UGAs was packed with about 9 people in each room and James was also completely booked. We had met up with Heather once again and even though she had an all-girl room, they let me stay in it anyway (YES CAUSE IM A GIRL). I even got a pillow to sleep on. Waking up was pretty scary since nobody was in the room except -dun dun DUN- one of the girl's uncle, and he was watching the nature channel. For a little bit I tried hard to get back to sleep until maye someone came back or the room fully cleared out but one of the girls came back and she wasnt sure who I was other than "Matthew...Mappy?" "Scott!" I said quickly, and introduced myself (YouPaidForTheRoomThanksForLettingMeStaySirGottaRunBYE!!), thanked the old man for the room, grabbed my socks, and book'd it outta there fast. I was starving since the last meal I had was erm, Burger King and alcohol all night so to the con suite I went. The suite had turned out to be only 2 doors down from where the now-closed Loli Room was at. They had a really nice choice of brand X sodas, chips, dip, pretzel, and even various fruits.
